In collaboration with the local community, we are shaping a strategic vision for the future of Donegal Town and its surrounding areas. The group will focus on projects which can be delivered in the medium (1-5 Years) to long term (10+ Years). The projects will benefit from the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF) and the Towns & Village Renewal Schemes, which are designed to foster sustainable growth and revitalisation in rural areas.

Current Areas of Focus
Recreation & Multi Sports Facility
The Recreation & Multi Sports Facility will offer a welcoming space for all ages to enjoy various sports and activities, promoting health, fitness, and community connection.
Current Status: Awaiting final copy of 2024/2030 Donegal Town Local Area Plan to be published. Based on sports survey results 2024/2025, draft a sketch of what the facility might look like including building / facility sizes, number of pitches, car parking etc.
Arts Culture & Entertainment Centre
Our vision for the Arts, Culture & Entertainment Centre is to create an inclusive space that celebrates local creativity, showcases performances and exhibitions, and brings people together through shared cultural experiences.
Current Status: Draft a list of all Arts, Culture & Entertainment facilities available in Donegal Town and the surrounding areas to determine gaps in what is available. Currently analysing survey results. Based on results determine if a temporary facility Arts, Culture & Entertainment centre needs to be sourced, to meet demand
Public Park
A recent public consultation has helped shape the vision for a new Public Park in Donegal Town, aimed at creating a vibrant green space for relaxation, play, and community use. The project is being progressed with support from the RRDF and the Towns & Villages Renewal Scheme.
Current Status: The community survey was carried out in December 2025 and January 2026, with strong public engagement and support. The Northwestern Development Partnership is now reviewing the consultation findings and assessing suitable locations for a public park in collaboration with Donegal County Council, ensuring alignment with the proposed Donegal Town Greenway.
